Williamsburg-Brooklyn Community Information

Aside from being a popular neighborhood for bohemians, artists, musicians, college students and young professionals, the neighborhood of Williamsburg has many historical landmarks that bridge the gap between the area’s modern day offerings with its historical, industrial past. These landmarks include the Kings County Savings Institution, the Williamsburg Houses, and the three buildings of the Domino Sugar Refinery. Three subway lines serve residents of Williamsburg: the L train, also known as the BMT Canarsie Line; J M Z trains, also called the BMT Jamaica Line; and the G train, known as the IND Crosstown Line. The Williamsburg Bridge connects Williamsburg with Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
